Default Which path is best?

I've completed both attribute and profession quest and wanted to know which was best....

Right now I have a Ranger/Elementalist but the game gives me three other choices like Mesmer, Necro, and Warrior...which is best?

Here are my stats

12 Fire Magic, 9 expertise, and 11 marksmanship (if keeping E is best then what should my stats look like and what would be best for my skills?)

Skills

Conjure Flame, Aura of Restoration, Distracting Shot, Broad Head Arrow, Disrupting shot, Lightning reflexes, volley, and Res signet.

weapon

Fiert composite Box of Enchanting 15-28 damage

Any help would be great

Aura of Restoration is a really bad idea.

Why not just unlock all secondary professions so you can respec whenever you want to. Also I would suggest taking a look at some of the ranger builds on either pvxwiki.com or here in the ranger section of the guru. I think there is a profession changer in Great temple of balthazar where you can unlock secondaries for 500g each. Hope this helps.

I would advise unlocking all secondary professions. Each secondary brings with it different and possibly entertaining options. As for your build, it is a very typical ranger Elementalist build that does good damage but puts a load on your healers. As for which is best, there is no best. It all depends on how you play and where you are playing. In some areas you are not going to be healing your foes, hope you have an icy bow handy.

Unlock all secondaries, there is no best and it is nice to have the others available when needed.

I'd exchange Disrupting Shot for Savage Shot and drop Aura of Restoration for Sloth Hunter's Shot, or just about anything else.

Do as Ryan Ryan suggested and unlock them all for someone who doesn't know the other professions there is no better advice.

You can then change your secondary class whenever you are in a town.

I have run my ranger with Elementalist Monk and Ritualist as secondaries but prefer to just use my ranger skills most of the time.

Monk was for healing, condition removal and a hard rez
Ele for Conjure element with an appropriate bowstring
Ritualist was for the weapon skills such as Splinter weapon

Ritualist comes from the factions gw game so you can only use that if you own it.
The other two games each have 2 new character classes in case you didnt know that already.

Unblock all secondaries, but tbh r/mo or r/me with bha > r/e because having more utility/epidemic daze spread is better than having a silly conjure.

You'd be better off flip flopping Fire magic and Maksmanship around in Attribute points.

Go 11 Fire and 12 Marks

Expertise id fine, 9 is a good break point

Also, be sure you are meeting the attribute req of the Bow, if it's a req 13 well then you will need 13 in Marksmanship.

Then take Amy's advice on skills to change, Aura of Resto really does nothing for you in that build.

Thanks everyone

I took a little bit of everyone's advice...

Attributes

Fire: 10
EX: 8
WS: 8
Marks: 12 (I pushed it to the bow's full requirements)

Skills

Powershot
Dual Shot
Pin Down
Kindle Arrows
Conjure Flame
Storm Chaser
Troll Ungent

I'm still trying to get my hands on a Greater Conflagation Elite

I went ahead and took a peak at the Ranger/Elementalist builds on this website and found the Fire Slinger build...it's working out great so far...

I use to attack at 21 at the most but now I'm attacking for 40 plus (without using Dual Shot.

I also unlocked all the professions

Ok, meeting the Bow Req will produce more damage.

My next question is about your Rune set up. You will REALLY need a Minor Rune of Expertise somewhere on your armor with that Attribute spread, 9 points in Expertise is basically the minimum you want to run.

Also a Minor of Wilderness Survival and AT Least a Minor in Marksmanship, if not a Major or Superior. At 12 in marksman with a req12 bow IF you get weakness on you you drop below your bows req and you lose a ton of damage.

Drop the Storm Chaser and add back in Lightning Reflexes. I also always feel naked without an Interupt.

I also suggest you get a new bow, something with a lower req, helps in those weakness situations. Now on that note, the beauty of the Kindle Arrows/Conjure Flame combo is that Kindle turns your arrows to fire Damge, which the Conjure Requires, meaning you don't need the Firey string and you can add a Vamp bow sting for +5 more armor ignoring damge, which is the draw back to the kindle/conjure combo, they are effected by armor.

Good luck

Okay I've switched out my bow with a Poisonous Nevermore Flatbow (15-28)

My runes are...

Mask: Minor Marksmanship
Vest: Minor Expertise
Gloves: Vitae
Leggings: Vitae
Boots: Minor Wilderness Survival

I've also switched out Storm Chaser to Lightning Reflexes.

Attributes

Fire: 10
EX: 10
WS: 9
Marks:11

Is that good?

It can work.

Take out Minor WS or a Vitae for a Rune of Vigour

Is that good?
no, if you're using conjure flame, a poisonous bow does absolutely nothing for you. you need a fiery bow if you're going to use [[conjure flame]. when i use a conjure, i usually bring an ele hero with [[mark of rod] and run something like

[conjure flame][distracting shot][savage shot][barrage][sloth hunter][lightning ref][resurrection sig][empty]

attributes are something like : marks 11+1+1, expertise 12+1, fire 8. you can drop expertise to 11+1 and put 10 in fire, but 13 expertise is the breakpoint for 10e skills i believe. my optional slot is usually [[antidote sig] or [[poison tip] (put a few points in WS for this), i think.

i use all survivor insignia and aside from the listed runes, i use a vigor rune and the rest are vitae.

Your starting to get the hang of the build options now.

You can Daze interrupt cripple as well as cause bleeding and poison your targets.

Daze is very good, as is poison so the poison tip signet comes in very useful.
With enough points in Expertise and perhaps a zealous bowstring you can almost forget energy problems.

The problem I found with conjure were the points needed in an element had to come from somewhere and it crippled my other skill options.
All I could do was cast conjure and spam barrage.

Sometimes that is enough but it can get a little boring.

@ joshuarodger

He has [Kindle Arrows] which turns his Damage to fire, so the Firey bow sting is not a must. Of course it is handy to have if Kindle goes down, or gets interupted when casting.

Definatley get a Vigor rune on there, drop one of the Vitae for it.

Expertise at 10 is not a great break point, see chart:

http://http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Expertise

So its fine at 9 in this build, move that one point to Marksmanship or Wilderness.

I don't know about the rest of you Rangers out there but this class is the one I fiddle with most.

I can play my Necro for weeks without changing more than one maybe 2 skills if any.
But my Ranger gets rebuilt on an almost daily basis

Well I've decided to go strait Ranger and see where that took me and it's going pretty well...

13 Expertise
4 Wilderness Survival
15 Marksmanship

Skills

Barrage, Volley, Distracting Shot, Savage Shot, Sloth Hunter's Shot, Anidote Signet, Lightning Reflexes, and Favorable winds.

Weapon

Zealous Azure Recurve Bow of Fortitude

Runes

Mask of superior Marksmanship
Vest of Minor Expertise
Gloves of vitae
Leggings of vitae
Boots of minor Vigor

My attacks are less powerful then they were before....should I use this one or my old one?
